This program will illustrate how drones are revolutionizing existing conditions surveying processes for civil engineering and architectural applications. Learn how drones make surveying easier, faster, and safer than traditional methods. Observe a live drone flight as FAA registered pilots, Jane Richter and Glenn Conover of Land Grant Surveyors explain the methods they use to collect existing condition data. After experiencing flight, you will learn of the technology used to produce digital outputs for modelling and mapping.
AIA Learning Objectives:
- Describe FAA regulations regarding Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for commercial use.
- Discuss the flight team’s coordination and planning efforts before and during a drone flight for the purpose of existing condition surveying.
- Explore the DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone and compare its capabilities to other commercially available unmanned aviation systems.
- Summarize the technology used to produce digital output for modeling and mapping and how this data is integrated into Autodesk REVIT.
