Risk Management for A/E/C Marketing Professionals: Lessons Learned from Bidding and Proposals

SMPS Central PA and AIA Pennsylvania are partnering again for a continuing education and networking event.

Anthony Potter, Esq. of Powell Trachtman Logan Carrie & Lombardo, P.C. will present “Risk Management for A/E/C Marketing Professionals: Lessons Learned from Bidding and Proposals” on January 24th at the Appalachian Brewing Company’s Abbey Bar in Harrisburg. This presentation will focus on pre-contractual proposals and marketing materials supplied by A/E/C firms to Owners and how the representations may influence an arbitrator or jury in assigning responsibility for unanticipated costs associated with a construction project. Increasingly, jurisdictions are finding that design professionals have an independent duty in tort to parties who foreseeably and justifiably rely on information that they provide. Accordingly, responses to Requests for Proposal concerning A/E/C firm’s capabilities must be carefully crafted and conscientiously prepared. We will explore cases like the Community College of Philadelphia v. Burt Hill, Inc.
