SUMMARY:CSI Central Pennsylvania Chapter October Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, October 7\, 2025 | 12:00PM to 4:00 PM\nSeven Trees Woodworking\nChapter Meeting \n\n124 King Court\, New Holland\, PA\n \n191 Quality Circle\, New Holland\, PA\nOn the first Tuesday of October\, we will meet at 12:00 Noon at Seven Trees Woodworking\, 124 King Court\, in New Holland. Seven Trees (www.seventrees.com) will host us for lunch starting at 12:15 pm\, followed by a tour of the woodworking facility\, ending at 2:15 pm. Seven Trees is a member of the Architectural Woodworking Institute and participant in AWI’s Quality Certification Program (QCP)\, specializing in the manufacturing and installation of custom cabinets\, doors\, furniture\, and commercial millwork\, plus metalwork\, much of it for the restaurant and hospitality industries. \nAt 2:15 pm we will migrate to Modlogiq (www.modlogiq.com)\, 191 Quality Circle\, in New Holland for a 2:30 pm educational presentation on off-site modular commercial building construction and a tour of the manufacturing plant\, ending at 4:00 pm. Modlogiq provides a high level of quality control through a process of detailed design\, manufacturing and assembly in the factory\, followed by disassembly\, transport\, and re-assembly on the construction site. \nThis program is being submitted to AIA CES for continuing education credit. Continuing education certificates will be available to all attendees upon request. Learning Objectives include: \n\nLearning about the benefits of the Architectural Woodwork Institute’s Quality Standards and Quality Certification Program.\nDiscussing advantages offered by off-site modular construction\, including design-assist\, greater control of cost and schedule\, and increased quality assurance.\nUnderstanding how Code compliance and inspections in the modular construction process differ from traditional field-built construction process.\nExamining how a modular construction process can integrate architectural\, mechanical and electrical features to result in a high level of energy efficiency and user well-being.\n\nAfter the tours\, if we have enough Board members present for a quorum\, we will journey to a restaurant to conduct our October Board Meeting. Non-board members are welcome to attend as it will likely include social networking and dinner. If an insufficient number of Board members are present\, the Board meeting will be held via Zoom starting at 6:00 pm. \nAttendees must register for this event at www.cpc-csi.com\, no later than Noon\, Monday October 6\, so we can inform Seven Trees Woodworking of the number for lunch. There is no cost. Attendees will be responsible for their own expenses if we have a post-tour gathering. \nQuestions? Carpool coordination? DESCRIPTION:September 9\, 2025  |  6:00 PM to 8:30 PM\nMarzoni’s Brick Oven & Brewing Co.\n4925 Ritter Road\, Mechanicsburg\, PA\nAdd to Calendar  Get Directions \n\nPost-Construction E&O Claims \nA Panel Discussion\, featuring \n\nMichael Pascoe\, attorney with Ice Miller LLP;\nJon O’Brien\, Executive Director of the Keystone Contractor Association;\nand an architect\, contractor\, and owner representative to be named.\n\n\n5:00-6:00 p.m. CPC-CSI Board Meeting \n6:00-7:30 p.m. Meet-and-Greet\, Cash Bar\, Dinner\, and Chapter Awards \n7:30-8:30 p.m. Panel Discussion Education Program \nREGISTER TODAY \n$30.00 PER PERSON | Please register no later than 6:00 pm\, Monday\, September 8. \nA current claim to be heard by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court is stirring debate over whether a public entity can recover its recent expenses to repair an alleged omission in 40-year-old construction from the successor firms to the original architect/engineer and builders. Attorney Michael Pascoe\, who has been involved in providing an amicus brief to the court\, will introduce us to the case\, the theory on which the plaintiff is basing its claim\, and the legal framework on which the lower courts have relied thus far to deny the claim. \nPanelists will briefly discuss design and construction quality assurance procedures typically followed to limit errors and omissions\, how standards of care may have been different in the early 1980’s\, record documents that should be retained\, potential ramifications for other projects\, the need for closure\, and how physical damages or personal injuries resulting from an error or omission might affect liability term limits. Jon O’Brien will also outline efforts being made in Pennsylvania to legislate clearly defined time limits on A/E/C liability for public and private projects. Input and questions from attendees will be welcome! \nLearning objectives: \n\nRecognize the obligation of building owners to provide facilities that are conducive to the safety and well-being of their occupants.\nIdentify traditional contract and statutory provisions governing post-construction error and omission claims.\nUnderstand QAQC procedures that limit or eliminate post-construction error and omission claims and help to ensure life safety.\nAscertain the construction project record documents necessary for long term retention and how they may help in future claims resulting from personal injury\, physical damage\, or the cost of remedying design or construction errors or omissions.\n\nThis program has been submitted to the AIA CES for 1 HSW/LU. Continuing education certificates will be available to all attendees. \nDinner reservations are required for all attending at $30 per person. \nRegister and pay at www.cpc-csi.com no later than 6:00 pm\, Monday\, September 8. \nDinner will be served buffet style\, including:\nFettuccini Alfredo with Grilled Chicken\, Stuffed Shells & Meatballs\, Broccoli\, Fried Zucchini\, Garden Salad\, Caeser Salad\, and choice of non-alcoholic beverage. \nAll are welcome to attend the CPC-CSI Board Meeting from 5:00-6:00 pm.\nContact Chris Atwood by email at atwochristop77@gmail.com or phone at (717) 579-4354 with any questions.  \n\nTickets\n\n$30 CSI Chapter Dinner \n$30 CSI Chapter Dinner \n\nView Meeting \nREGISTER TODAY
