The Analytique had the capacity to communicate the entirety of an architectural idea through fragments\, projected at varied scales\, framed onto one hybrid drawing. Behind this method is the all-important presence of instrumentality\, and how certain ideas of born out of a particular mode of representation –indeed how certain drawings already engender certain types of ideas. With the emergence of the digital practices\, the drawing has sometimes ceased to maintain the same primacy it once had\, if only because the database that a 3d model contains is even far richer in information\, even if never exposed through a drawing. The Animate Analytique attempts to unlock this data base\, while introducing the element of time\, to create animate drawings that navigate changes of state: between plan and section\, or between elevation and axonometric\, or between parallel and conical projections\, all revealing discrete ideas on their own terms in an organic and synthetic way. Dewberry St. and S. 3rd Street\, south of Chestnut\, though Google Maps indicates this is temporarily closed. There is also metered street parking available. The relationships between resilient design\, sustainable design and the base building code will be explored. Examples of masonry buildings resilient to natural hazards will be provided. Environmental product selection information will be reviewed. The embodied carbon of masonry products will be examined along\nwith suggestions to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings constructed with masonry. 1 AIA/CEU (HSW) \nSession Three\n“Masonry Cleaning Approach & Methodology”\nPresenter: Casey Weisdock of the International Masonry Institute\nThis presentation considers several parameters that surround and affect decisions on historic masonry surface treatment\, including patina\,\nsoiling\, weathering\, cleaning\, and matching – beforehand and during the project. These include aligning the purposes of cleaning with expectations\, who makes decisions and when\, applicable standards\, methods of specifying cleaning\, developing a cleaning plan\, and field considerations such as sequence of work\, environment conditions\, protection\, and field testing and mock-ups. A general overview of currently\navailable treatments will be presented: water\, misting\, detergents\, chemical\, biocides\, poultice methods\, micro-abrasive systems\, mechanical hand tool methods\, and laser. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Architecture degree from Yale University. He was awarded the John Stewardson Fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania\, which he used to travel throughout India to study stepwells. He was awarded the Drawing Prize from Yale University.
